Hole Palm 9
|
GeneralPar:5 - Index 11/12
Description: This is a double doglegged right hole. The shot off the tee needs to land beside the three bunkers guarding the right of the fairway. This is crucial to ensure a third shot onto the pear-shaped green that slopes off steeply on both sides at the front. Accurate pitches are called for. Red pin positions are considered the most challenging. Two thirds of the way back, the green slopes towards the back with a beautiful bunker ready to welcome wayward shots. Strategy of Play: Off the Tees – Aim at the left side of the fairway, an option to lay-up before the left bunker or to go over the right side fairway bunker is an option. An attack to the green is possible only if you can clear the two bunkers guarding the first landing area. A fairway wood or long iron is required by aiming on the left side of the green executing a high fade shot to the green for a 2 on, however it is risky as the green is protected by bunkers on all angles around the green and a tree line in front of the right side of the green. Play conservatively for a 3 on regulation, by aiming left for your second shot to have a clear approach shot to the green. |
